The Ecosystem Research and Development Bureau- Urban and Biodiversity Research, Development, and Extension Center (ERDB-UBRDEC), headed by Forester Gregorio E. Santos, Jr., made a collaborative effort with the Philippine Air Force (PAF), led by Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan P. De Leon PAF (GSG) to promote an environmentally conscious cleanliness campaign.
Since UBRDEC initiated the Kapihan sa Talipan, it aims to support all the partner agencies, including Talipan National High School (TNHS) in addressing the critical issue of solid waste management within the local community. In celebration of the PAF Tactical Operation Group’s anniversary, stationed at Camp Guillermo Nakar in Lucena City, they delivered 10 water containers to UBRDEC and TNHS on September 14, 2023.
Dr. Luningning Mendoza, TNHS Principal, stated that these drums will be used to combat waste management challenges, considering a total of 3,254 students contributing to a large amount of solid waste. Kapihan sa Talipan also pushes them to build up a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) to serve as storage for separated waste, which can be reused or recycled, and to transform biodegradable waste into fertilizer.
ERDB-UBRDEC extends its heartfelt gratitude to the PAF, recognizing its efforts to support the promotion of environmental cleanliness. The center is steadfast in its commitment to fostering a stronger sense of unity and cooperation among the members of Brgy. Talipan community, all in pursuit of a cleaner and more orderly environment. UBRDEC
