The Toxic and Hazardous Wastes Research, Development and Extension Center provided technical assistance to Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) Pampanga through the conduct of a two-day Technical Webinar on Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Research and Development from May 16 to 17, 2022.

The activity was conducted through video teleconferencing via Zoom application. Several technical personnel from the Center shared information on various ENR-related topics such as research-based environmental planning, ecosystem valuation, geographic information systems (GIS), the Expanded National Greening (E-NGP) Program, macrosomatic clonal propagation, pollutant-absorbent plant species for vertical/urban greening, analytical techniques in the detection of environmental toxic pollutants, potential environmental toxicity in soil, and bioremediation, among others.

Completed research projects of the Center on household hazardous wastes and low-cost adsorbents were also discussed. A total of 70 Environmental Science students participated in the webinar.

Dr. Lyn Juares, Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Science, delivered the opening remarks.

In her opening message, Center Head Ms. Nery A. Alba expressed her gratitude to Our Lady of Fatima University, Pampanga Campus for tapping the ERDB-THWRDEC to conduct the webinar on ENR Research and Development for their students.

The students received the webinar with enthusiasm, and they are looking forward to participating in another webinar that could cover other environmental concerns. Elisa B. Malihan, THWRDEC
