The Toxic and Hazardous Wastes Research, Development, and Extension Center (THWRDEC) conducted the 2nd Quarter ELTAG meeting on May 19, 2022 at the Makati City Hall.

With the ease of restrictions on the COVID-19 pandemic on public gatherings, it served as the first face-to-face ELTAG meeting in over two years since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Thirty-four representatives consisting of 8 males and 26 females from the 12 LGUs in the National Capital Region, and two (2) representatives from the Manila Bay Site Coordinating Management Office (MBSCMO)-NCR attended the meeting.

The activity aimed to strengthen and sustain the established partnerships and linkages in the conduct of environmental initiatives/projects between the ERDB-THWRDEC and LGU partners in Metro Manila.

Mr. Augusto de los Santos, Head of the Department of Environmental Services of Makati City, welcomed the LGU representatives to the meeting while Center Head Ms. Nery Alba delivered the opening message.

The agenda discussed in the meeting include updates on the ENR technologies being promoted by the Center, the Manila Bay project and rehabilitation activities of DENR-NCR, a short concept on Gender and Development and the environment, and the latest accomplishments of each LGU on ENR-related project on the management of toxic and hazardous wastes.

Following the meeting was an eco-tour around Makati City’s ENR projects. Ernesto C. Corpuz, Jr., Sr SRS-THWRDEC
