
The Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Research Development and Extension Consortium, or STAARRDEC celebrated its 35th anniversary with the theme “35 years of Partnerships and Innovations in the Region: Celebrating Smart Solutions in Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Sector”.
The event which was held at the Cavite State University in Indang, Cavite last May 3 convened various research institutions, government and funding agencies, and state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the Region.
Dr. Hernando D. Robles, Chairperson of STAARRDEC and President of Cavite State University, welcomed the participants and guests. Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, Executive Director of DOST-PCAARRD, graced the anniversary as a keynote speaker.
He emphasized the importance of genuinely working together to pursue development in agriculture and natural resources in the region.
The anniversary highlighted the ceremonial signing of the commitment of the member institutions. ERDB, thru the Urban and Biodiversity Research Development and Extension Center (UBRDEC), renewed its commitment to engage in building research and development programs, policy formulation and advocacy, and capability building on the environment and natural resources.
ERDB thru UBRDEC is one of the 24 Consortium Member Institutions (CMIS) in the STAARRDEC. Ms. Adreana Santos-Remo, Ms. Heza Leigh Padua and Ms. Eunice Onrubia attended the activity as representatives of the different clusters under the Consortium.


Activities conducted during the anniversary include technology pitching, technology poster, STAARTOK, and Nostalgic Moments. Technologies pitched by the member institutions include engineered bamboo and desks, pepper threshing machine, wastewater treatment equipment, BioCoatz, powdered trichantera, and cassava starch potassium sorbate coating, to name a few.
