In line with the Philippine Environment Month celebration this June and in consonance with the nationwide tree growing activity spearheaded by the DENR, the Agroforestry Research, Development and Extension Center (ARDEC) conducted a simultaneous tree growing activity in Tagum City in Davao del Norte, Nabunturan in Davao de Oro and Amas, Kidapawan City in North Cotabato.
ARDEC Center Head Minda S. Odsey led the tree growing activity at ARDEC Station 1 in Amas, Kidapawan City on June 7, 2022 and was joined by personnel and staff of ARDEC Station 1.
A total of 97 seedlings of Agoho (Casuarina equisetifolia Linn.) were planted along the perimeter of the Experimental Forest in Amas, Kidapawan City.
Meanwhile, a total of 134 assorted fruit-bearing trees (and vegetables) were planted within the vicinities of ARDEC main office in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
Ten seedlings of Lapnisan (Aquilaria malaccensis) was also planted at ARDEC Station 2 in Poblacion, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.
The team from ERDB main office headed by Dr. Marilyn Q. Lalican, chief of the Laboratory and Experiment Services Division (LESD), and Pag-asa, the official mascot of ARDEC, joined the tree growing activity in Kidapawan City.
Along with Pag-asa, ARDEC wishes to convey the importance of the center’s agroforestry initiative to effectively conserve and manage the remaining natural resources and promote farm productivity and wildlife conservation.
The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Philippine Environment Month 2022: Aksyon para sa Natatanging Mundo”.
