The Watershed and Water Resources Research, Development and Extension Center (WWRRDEC) ventured to reach national audience through a television guesting aired at the People’s Television Network (PTV) on April 16, 2021.
The said activity aimed to promote the importance of watersheds to society and the role of the Center in preserving and protecting these watersheds.
The television broadcasting event was aired during the PTV segment titled “Isyu at Serbisyo” (IaS) hosted by Mr. Eddie Carta. Ms. Sharmaine L. Egalla, Information Officer II of WWRRDEC, graced the discussion.
During the 45-minute interview, Ms. Egalla highlighted the role of the Center in the conservation, management and protection of watersheds and water resources by promoting various projects and activities that are being undertaken by the Center.
She discussed about the ongoing projects of the Center such as “Benguet Pine Forest Characterization in Selected Disturbed and Undisturbed Sites of Benguet Province” and “Carrying Capacity of Baguio City”.
Some of the extension activities offered by the Center that were also mentioned during the interview included technical assistance in Strategic Communication Planning, bamboo propagation and resource valuation.
Various services catered by the different laboratories of the Center such as the Forest Tree Seed Center (FTSC), Soil and Water Laboratory and Tissue Culture Laboratory were also promoted in the broadcasting event.
