The Coastal Resources and Ecotourism Research, Development and Extension Center (CRERDEC) held its First Quarter Meeting and Learning Event last February 23-24, 2021.
This year’s quarterly meeting is a blended event due to travel restrictions and continuing rise in the number of COVID cases. The activity was done online via zoom and face to face among the three regions and office stations of CRERDEC in Iloilo (Region 6), Cebu (Region 7) and Tacloban (Region 8).
The quarterly meeting focused on the tasks and deliverables of the Center that need to be attained based on the approved Work and Financial Plan for CY 2021.
The meeting also tackled updates and directives from the ERDB main office that include accomplishments, issues and concerns, submission of research proposals based on the approved RDE framework, updating of the Citizen’s Charter and Organizational Structure, and filling in of the vacant positions in the Center.
Updates on the status of the activities and projects under each unit and stations were also presented.
The following topics were also discussed as part of the learning event of the 2-day activity: QMS/Ethical Standard and Principles of Quality Management, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards, and Adopting the Guidelines for the Development and Review of Environment and Natural Resources Research, Development and Extension (ENR-RDE) Project proposals.
To continuously improve the competency of the CRERDEC researchers, a separate learning event was held last March 2, 2021 on Research Proposal Preparation and Technical Writing with Dr. Jose Alan A. Castillo, Scientist I of ERDB as the resource person.
CRERDEC Center Head, Dr. Alicia L. Lustica, expressed her gratitude to the CRERDEC personnel for giving their full support and cooperation in order for the quarterly meeting and learning event to happen despite the challenges in the new normal.
Dr. Lustica emphasized the importance of conducting meetings to serve as guide and venue to update and discuss CRERDEC’s planned activities, targets and deliverables for CY 2021. Maechelle June G. Blanca, CRERDEC
