The use of compost instead of chemical fertilizer has been found to be a viable option for many environmentally-concerned farmers and plant growers.
There is also another approach to compost making - it is the method of vermicomposting. This way earthworms are used to produced compost that can serve as soil conditioner and organic fertilizer.
Vermicomposting offers solutions to the increasing problem of waste disposal. This technology can reduce biodegradable wastes from farms and households. It can give both environmental and financial rewards to its adoptors.
We hope that this issue will generate interest and guide our readers in starting their own backyard vermicomposting activity.
