A Research Compendium for Damaged, Critical and Marginal Watershed Areas
This compendium was developed from compiled research information, current technologies and personal experiences by various scientists and watershed managers on successful rehabilitation measures employed in damaged, critical and marginal watershed areas. Specifically, this handbook provides the reader a better outlook and understanding of the biological and physical components of a damaged ecosystem and how to rebuild its various interrelated components based on ecological strategies.
Presented in this handbook/manual are the recommended plant species, the combination of vegetative and engineering (or bio-engineering) measures and bioremediation strategies which can be adopted for successful restoration in various zones of damaged watersheds. It is hoped that this piece of work will serve as a guide to stakeholders in choosing the right measures for different portions of the watersheds so that they can contribute to the rehabilitation of long-lying degraded and marginal areas of the country.
