The GAD-IEC (Gender and Development - Information and Education and Communication) team conducted the Gising Diwa on Nov. 20, 2014 in Bukal National High School, Brgy. Bukal, Cavinti, Laguna. The activity was conducted in partnership with the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR).The lecturers in ERDB were composed of For. Romana A. Mauricio, Salvacion T. Orobia, and Marla V. Cambay. The other ERDB staff were Ms. Janice Cabuscabus and Mr. Richard Villarin who assisted in the conduct of the activity. The two staff from Napocor in Lumban, Laguna were For. Jesse Carlo P. Fajardo and For.Divina Lachica.


The program started with the opening prayer from a student of Bukal National High School followed by the singing of the National Anthem, also from a student of the school. The guidance counselor, Mrs. Dolores Morales gave the opening remarks. She thanked the ERDB for choosing their school to be the recipient of the Gising Diwa. Ms. Marla V. Cambay gave a brief introduction of ERDB and the Gising Diwa Program and served as master of ceremony. For. Romana Mauricio talked about "Climate Change and Its Effects on Watershed"

For. Jesse Carlo P. Fajardo of Napocor discussed "Forest Laws" and gave a brief background of their office including its history. The last speaker was Ms. Salvacion Orobia who tackled "Role of Gender in Disaster Preparedness".

Questions were asked regarding the topics discussed and prizes were given away to students who answered the questions correctly. A video titled "Kalma Klima, Best Student Projects on Climate Change" was also shown to the participants. Marla V. Cambay, TDD and Romana A. Mauricio, FERD
