As part of the center’s mandate on the promotion of ENR technologies, UTHRC conducted an exhibit on recommended pollution-absorbent plant species (PAPS) for vertical/urban greening and other ENR related technologies on April 23-27, 2018 at TLC Park, Brgy. Lower Bicutan, Taguig City. The activity was undertaken to raise awareness and participation of stakeholders in the adoption of the technologies being promoted.
The exhibit highlighted the information on the recommended pollution-absorbent plant species (PAPS) for urban planting and phytoremediation schemes for polluted waterways in urban areas. Other information shown were the different ENR technologies which are beneficial to the urban setting. i.e. Charcoal Briquetting Technology and Recycling.
A short program was undertaken to formally open the exhibit and ribbon cutting led by Ms. Nery A. Alba, UTHRC Center Head. City ENRO Felix L. Catigay gave the opening remarks. Also present during this activity were the department heads of Taguig City i.e Solid Waste Management Office, Cooperative Development Office, Personnel Employment Service Office and students from Taguig City University, Signal Village National High School, Upper Bicutan National High School and Taguig National High School.
ENRO Catigay mentioned that Taguig City is very lucky to be chosen as a venue for the said ENR activity. On the other hand, Center Head Alba explained the mandates of the Center specifically the promotion of ENR technologies and the importance of pollution absorbent plant species (PAPS) on urban greening activity.
