The Watershed and Water Resources Research Center (WWRRC) formally turned over its MSPL Clonal Nursery to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 1 (DENR-1) at Manleluag Spring Protected Landscape (MSPL), Brgy. Malabobo, Mangatarem, Pangasinan on February 23, 2018.

The activity was participated in by personnel from DENR Regional Office 1, PENRO Pangasinan, CENRO Dagupan and from WWRRC. Dr. Carlos S. Arida, Sr., Center Director of WWRRC, Dr. Gwendolyn C, Bambalan, Assistant Regional Director for Technical of DENR Region 1 and For. Celso C. Salazar, CENR Officer of Dagupan witnessed the turn-over of the documents containing the validation reports of the existing facilities, equipment and supplies.

MSPL Clonal Nursery is one of the 22 clonal nurseries established under Executive Order No. 26 (Effecting the Implementation of National Greening Program) through Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB). The said clonal nursery was established in the year 2012 and managed by the ERDB-WWRRC up to CY 2017.

During the turn-over ceremony, Dr. Camilo C. Domingo, Jr., Special Project Section Chief of WWRRC, presented the history of the clonal nursery as well as the recommendations, challenges, and way forward for the smooth implementation and management of the clonal facilities.

WWRRC will also provide technical assistance to the DENR Region 1 and PENRO in terms of the operation of the clonal nursery even after turn-over until such time that the said office can fully handle their operations and maintenance.

During the program, Dr. Arida, ARD Bambalan and CENRO Salazar affixed their initials in the validation report and other documents to effect the turn-over. Also, the participants visited all the facilities in Clonal nursery such as hedge garden, rooting area, potting area, recovery area, and seed storage room before the closing of the activity.
