The Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB) thru the Technology Transfer Division (TTD) celebrated its 30th Anniversary Celebration with a series of activities on December 11-12, 2017. On December 11, an exhibit and a symposium were held at the DENR while on December 12, ERDB recognized its 30 ENR technology adopters with the theme “Teknolohiyang Makakalikasan: Handog ng DENR-ERDB para sa Mamamayan”. The activity aimed to showcase the Bureau’s successfully adopted technologies from 1987 to present by the different stakeholders/adopters from the seven research centers located all over the country.
The specific objectives were to: (1) showcase generated ENR technologies and recognize the efforts of adopters/stakeholders; and (2) feature the benefits derived from the ENR technologies by the adopters. The criteria for selection of adopters are (1) sustainability (number of years of using/adopting the technology) from 1987 to present; (2) benefits derived from the adopted technology; (3) effects of the technology on the environment; and (4) multiplier effect or the sharing/transferring with other stakeholders.
For ERDB, the five awardees are: Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation (Clonal Propagation and Hi-Q Vam 1); Ms. Kay Jimenez (Bamboo Propagation and Bambusetum); Hon. Mayor M. Malones of Maasin Watershed in Iloilo (Bamboo Propagation and Bambusetum Establishment); Mr. Domingo Alfonso of Kawayan Farm In Pililia, Rizal (Bamboo Establishment and Production) and CS 1st Green Agro-Industrial Development Corporation, Inc. (Application of Hi-Q Vam 1 on the Bamboo Nursery and Plantation Establishment).
For the ERDB’s Research Centers, there were 25 awardees for the different technologies developed by ERDB for the last 30 years.
