In an effort to promote and inform the elderlies and the employees the rights and privileges under the law, the ERDB spearheaded the Seminar on the Senior Citizen’s Laws on December 7, 2017 at the ERDB Auditorium. The three laws are: Republic Act No. 6713 ( An Act Establishing a Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees), Republic Act No. 7432 (An Act to Maximize the Contribution of Senior Citizens to Nation Building, Grant Benefits and Special Privileges) and Republic Act No. 9994 (An Act Granting Additional Benefits and Privileges to Senior Citizens). A total of 161 employees composed of 68 males and 93 females attended this activity.
Ms. Veronica O. Sinohin, focal person of the ERDB’s senior citizens gave the welcome remarks. She also gave a short background on the senior citizens law and other laws as public employees in the government.
Dr. Aurora S. Jose introduced the guest speaker, Atty. Mereyll Kyla P. Irader, a newly hired Legal Officer of DENR-ERDB. The 29-year-old lawyer was admitted to the Philippine Bar in May 2017. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the Arellano University School of Law, Class of 2016 and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication major in Speech Communication, Class of 2009. She was born and raised in Palawan.
