A 5-day training titled “Training-Workshop on Outcomes-Based Research Monitoring and Evaluation of Industry Strategic S&T Programs/Projects (ISPs)” was held at the DOST-PCAARRD Innovation and Technology Center, Los Baños, Laguna on 4-8 September 2017. Ms. Janine F. Cortiguerra of the ERDB-Laboratory and Experimental Services Division (LESD) attended the said training which was hosted by the DOST-PCAARRD. The overall objective of the training-workshop was to deepen the skills and improve the practices of stakeholders in managing outcomes-based M&E in ISPs/R&D programs and projects.

Dr. Juanito T. Batalon, Director of PCAARRD-Institution Development Division (IDD) welcomed the participants during the opening program. This was followed by Professor Wilfredo B. Carada of UPLB-CPAf who was the main resource speaker of the training-workshop.

The training activities consisted of lectures, group discussions, individual/group work/assignments and oral and written presentations of the workshop outputs.

Participants had a good perception of the training in general. They were satisfied with the learning sessions and PCAARRD’s services. Participants were grateful to PCAARRD and to Professor Carada because they learned many things regarding Outcomes-Based Monitoring and Evaluation (OBME). At the end of the training, most of the participants said that they will adopt this M&E approach to improve their project implementation in their institutions. Janine F. Cortiguerra, LESD
