Apayao State College (ASC) and Kalinga State University (KSU) were among the guest awardees of DENR-CAR during the culmination of the 29th DENR Anniversary and Environmental Month celebration held at the Training Hall, DENR-CAR compound at Gibraltar Road, Baguio City on July 18, 2016. The two SUCs were lauded for being committed partners of the Research Sector in the Production of Quality Planting Materials under the National Greening Program of the government for five years.

ASC NGP-PQPM Coordinator, Dr. David A. Rodolfo, received the Certificate of Award for ASC in behalf of ASC President Nieves C. Dacyon. A video presentation showed that ASC was a consistent and outstanding producer of quality planting materials and the highest producer of quality planting materials among all ERDB-WWRRC SUC partners region-wide (CAR) in CY 2014. ASC has also empowered communities in the locality through trainings of their PO-cooperators on nursery and plantation establishment.

KSU was also recognized for empowering the youth through the use of the clonal facility provided by DENR in 2011 as a learning venue on the cloning, care and nurture of forest tree species. Although President Jovita E. Saguibo and her NGP-PQPM coordinator were not able to attend the awarding, a video presentation showed how KSU used the clonal facility in educating the youth on environmental concerns.
