Twelve librarians and administrative staff from the Manila City Library and its branches visited the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB) on April 14, 2016. The visit was conducted as a part of the Bureau’s ongoing activity, “Lakbay Aral sa ERDB”.
Technology Transfer Division (TTD) Chief Ms. Veronica Sinohin welcomed the participants upon their arrival. She also briefed them on the Bureau’s structure, functions, and activities. Likewise, ERDB Librarian Ms. Maricel Villaruel presented her lecture titled “ERDB Library: Moving Forward to the World of Research” that discussed the organization and management of the ERDB Special Library, as well as its services and publications.
The participants also toured around the ERDB facilities such as the Library, Circulation Unit, Bamboo and Rattan Gallery, and the Research and Development Demonstration Zone (RDZ) for Clonal Propagation and Charcoal Briquetting Technology. They also visited the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Main Library upon prior coordination.
“We at ERDB are very happy that you get to visit our office. We hope that you learned something from us,” said Mr. Angelito Exconde, ERDB’s Administrative Officer, during his closing message. In return, Manila City Head Librarian Mr. Renan Santos thanked ERDB for the learning experience on behalf of his colleagues. He said that they are more than willing to collaborate with the Bureau in its future endeavors. Melanie N. Ojeda, TTD
