Girded for CY 2016 and beyond, ERDB and partner State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) convened for the 2016 1st SUC Discussion on NGP on 14-17 March 2016 at the Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay City, Leyte.

ERDB-NGP Operations Center (NGP OpCen) and 22 of 27 partner SUCs attended the said event. The previous year’s accomplishments, issues, and concerns, the CY 2016 action plans, and the CY 2017 – 2028 forward plans and criteria for SUCs involvement in the expanded NGP were discussed.

As agreed in the 2016 Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with ERDB, each of the 27 partner SUCs must produce at least 20,000 clones to be planted in assigned NGP sites by either the PENRO/CENRO concern.

Ceremonial MOA signing commenced to formally ink the partnership between ERDB and the SUCs. Four presidents, namely, Dr. Edgardo Tulin of VSU, Dr. Honorio Soriano Jr. of Pampanga State Agricutural University (PSAU), Dr. Irvin Generalao of Southern Philippines Agribusiness and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), and Dr. Anthony Penaso of Caraga State University (CSU) were present in the ceremony.

Several dignitaries also showed their support through by part in the opening program. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Dr. Edgardo A. Tulin (VSU President), RD Leonardo R. Sibbaluca (DENR Region VIII), and Hon. Carmen L. Cari (Baybay City Mayor).
