ERDB joined the SIPAG FIESTA exhibit on March 2-4 at PCAARRD Headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna. Forest tree macropropagation techniques, HI-Q VAM 1 application, and production of DENR charcoal briquettes were featured at the exhibit.
Visitors of the exhibit were informed about the ERDB technologies. All queries were answered by the ERDB exhibitors. Most of the visitors were interested with HI-Q VAM 1 and bought kilos and sacks of the products of the said technology.
Senator Cynthia A. Villar said, “I’m so glad I came here, because I witnessed and proved that agriculture has hope in the Philippines.” She also acknowledged the importance of technology to the development of the country.
DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo encouraged the exhibitors and the visitors to develop more technologies. “We develop our own innovations while deriving the best from the foreign technology. We enrich our science with what the world has already known or discovered and translate it into technologies that will improve the lives of our people,” Secretary Montejo said.
The said exhibit is also known as the Strategic Industry S&T Program for Agri-Aqua Growth (SIPAG) through Farms and Industry Encounters through the Science and Technology Agenda (FIESTA). It aims to showcase the top accomplishments of the regional R&D consortia from 2010-2016, adopting FIESTA as its theme. Regional research and development consortia and other members of Los Baños Science Community also joined the exhibit. –Ann Valerie V. Gillado, TTD
