The ERDB in partnership with the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army steered a three-day training on Bamboo Propagation, Plantation Establishment and Management (BPPM) to further reinforce the DENR-DND Bamboo Plantation Project in the Fort Ramon Magsaysay Military Reservation (FRMMR) dubbed as Oplan Bambusa in military term.
This year’s training on BPPM is the fourth training since its launching in 2014. It was held at Kaugnay Officers Clubhouse, Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija on March 1-3. Fourty-seven participants attended the training—military personnel from Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), Headquarters, Special Operation Commands (SOCOM), Real Estate Program and Economic Welfare Center (REPEWC), Headquarters and Headquarters Service Battalion (HHSBn), 7th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army and ten (10) civilians. It equipped the implementers with different bamboo propagation techniques, particularly proper selection and cutting of planting materials as well as step-by-step procedures on plantation establishment and management. Ground application of HI-Q VAM 1 technology developed by the ERDB was also discussed.
Training activities involved discussion, hands-on demonstration exercise, and preparation of per unit action plan to be presented for critiquing to their respective Commanding Officer (CO). At the end of the training, the members of BPPM team through Major General Angelito M. De Leon, Commander, 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army expressed their gratitude for the unceasing support and technical assistance of the ERDB on the implementation of the Oplan Bambusa project.
