A tribute was given to ERDB senior citizens during the flag ceremony as part of the celebration of Grandparents’ Week on March 14. They were serenaded by the ERDB employees led by Ms. Marilou C. Arcillas. This is the first time that the Bureau celebrated the said event in compliance to RA 7432.
Seminar on Proper Ways to Keep our Kidneys Healthy was also held for the senior citizens on March 22 at the ERDB Auditorium. Dr. Lafayette R. Ang-Santo, a urologist, discussed the prostate, urinary tract infection and kidneys. Queries of the attendees were answered by Dr. Ang-Santo. Some of the senior citizens also had a personal consultation with the doctor after the seminar.
Grandparents’ week is held to honor the lolos and lolas and to preserve the waning tradition of fostering love and care for the elderly in the country. Ms. Veronica O. Sinohin, focal person of the ERDB senior citizens stated, “This tribute is for the senior citizens of ERDB to remind them that they are loved, and that they are important.”
Director Henry A. Adornado recognized the senior citizen employees and said that they should be assisted and their needs should be prioritized as a way of showing respect to them and their contributions to the Bureau. Ann Valerie V. Gillado, TTD
