The ERDB GAD (Gender and Development) Focal Point System prepared different activities in connection with the celebration of the 2016 Women’s Month. This year’s theme is “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Adyenda”. The activities started with the uploading of the GAD logo in the ERDB website. Likewise, the GAD tarpaulin was hanged at the ERDB poster area. In addition, Ms. Nida Reyes and Esperanza Talero participated in the women courses offered by the TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) at the DENR Social Hall.

The ERDB GAD focal point system members hosted the flag ceremony on March 7, 2016. The group also gave away raffle prizes during the ceremony.

Other activities include the advocacy walk on March 8, 2016. Each division was required to send 10-20 representatives each. Other DENR regional offices were also invited in the event. Female college student was invited as resource speaker during the short program after the parade. The masters of ceremony were Rio Christine P. Bustamante and Pierre Herbert M. Balite. An intermission number was rendered by Riselle Evangelista of CZFERD.

To further enhance the capabilities of women. Ms. Shiela G. Dequina and Marciana T. Orobia attended the Health and Wellness Seminar on March 8, 2016 at the DENR Social Hall, Quezon City.

On March 16, 2016, a minimum of 30 ERDB participants will attend the Philippine Commission on Women’s (PCW) activity at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park Manila. Maricel Villaruel and Ellen Quilitis will attend the Basic Self Defense and Self Protection on March 22, 2016 at the DENR Social Hall in Quezon City.

An On-the-Spot Painting Painting Contest will be held on March 28, 2016 which is intended for grades 5 and 6 students of public schools. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and consolation prize winners will be awarded.

A blood-letting activity will also be conducted on March 30, 2016. The culminating activity will be held on March 31, 2016 which is a cooking session to be led by Mr. Paul Cuadra titled “Juana, Ikaw Na”. Marla V. Cambay,TTD
