The ERDB through the Pro-Active Response Towards Nurturing Environmental Relations: A Barangay Outreach project based on Community Needs and Demands. (Partner Bond) conducted the capacity building on DENR Charcoal Briquetting, Bamboo and Forest Tree Propagation at the Field Agricultural Extension Services (FAES) of the Department of Agriculture on Oct. 20, 2015 in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

Fifty six (56) participants comprising of 4H club members, coordinators and LGU members attended the training. They came from Magdalena, Sta. Maria, Cavinti, Nagcarlan Calamba, Pakil, San Pablo, Liliw, Kalayaan, Pangil, Siniloan, Pagsanjan and Lumban towns in Laguna.

Two 4H club members, Mrs Mary Rose Villegas and Michelle Aquino led the invocation and national anthem, respectively.

Forester Cer Jay Jimemez of ERDB was the resource person during the training. He discussed the topics on bamboo and forest tree propagation and charcoal briquetting production. Mr. Alan Alinsunurin facilitated the hands-on demonstration on forest tree propagation using non-mist clonal propagation technique. Mr. Marvin Lobina and Mr. Edgardo Castillo assisted in the practical application of charcoal briquetting and bamboo propagation, respectively.

Mrs. Lydia Estrada, Asst. Provincial Agriculturist welcomed the participants. Likewise, Mr. Marlon Tobias, Provincial Agricultural Officer of Laguna also gave an inspirational message during the training. Mr. Tobias emphasized that he also promotes the planting of bamboo and he recognizes the many uses of bamboo.

Ms. Marla V. Cambay, project leader of the ERDB Partner Bond Project explained the rationale, objectives and various activities of the project.

The young participants were very eager to learn the the hands-on application of the different technologies that the trainors imparted. Marla V. Cambay, TTD
