ERDB joined SyenSaya 2015 which opened on August 12 at Copeland Hall, University of the Philippines Los Baños. Twenty-three science and technology institutions and organizations participated in the event with the theme "SyenSaya at Kabataan: #WOWTLG."
ERDB exhibited the four economically important bamboo species in the Philippines, Bolo, Kawayang tinik, Buho, and Giant Bamboo. Ecological and economical benefits from bamboo were presented to the visitors with different information, education and communication (IEC) materials.
Technology Transfer Division OIC-Chief Veronica O. Sinohin represented the ERDB in the opening program. Keynote Speaker, Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, Acting Director of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAAARD) acknowledged the importance of science in the development of the country. He then encouraged the youth to pursue a career in the said field and also urged the elders to pass their knowledge and train the youth to have passion for science.
SyenSaya 2015 is part of the celebration of National Technology Week organized by the Los Baños Science Community Foundation, Inc. It intends to provide the public with interactive science learning and realize the importance of science in our daily life.
Other activities were Technology Forum on Data Management and Information Systems on August 13 at the NCAS Auditorium, UPLB and R&D Awarding and Closing Ceremonies on August 14 at the SEARCA Auditorium. Ann Valerie V. Gillado, TTD
