Biodiversity, Coastal, Wetlands and Ecotourism Research Center (BCWERC) participated in the celebration of Visayas State University (VSU) Founding Anniversary on August 5-11 and won the Best Booth award received by Center Head Alicia L. Lustica. The celebration's theme was "Reinvigorating Agriculture for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development" held at the VSU Oval Grounds, Visca, Baybay City, Leyte.

Headed by CENRO-Baybay,Dr. Eugenia N. Bautista, BCWERC's exhibit showcased the major programs of DENR as well as projects and researches of the Center. Some of the programs and projects featured were the National Greening Program (NGP), Sustainable Coral Reef Ecosystem Management Program (SCREMP), Leyte biodiversity resources, and assessment of ecological solid waste management through Material Recovery Facility (MRF). Products of the Tikog Workers Association in Basey, Samar and "Basura Mo, Pakabuhi Ko" Program of the City jail were also displayed and sold at the booth.

More than 150 VSU students, farmers and government employees visited the booth. Brochures, planting materials such as bitaog, yakal, toog, bayok, tiga, and mangconand cloned seedlings from Babatngon clonal facility were given away. KJMones, BCWERC
