ERDB Acting Director Henry A. Adornado, Ph.D. led the inauguration of the P5 million worth of buildings initiated by the then Ecosystems Research and Development Service (ERDS) now Mining and Degraded Areas Rehabilitation Research Center (MDARRC) Satellite Office XII on January 28, 2015.

Built out of the funds to support the National Greening Program of the government, the four new buildings include the Seed Laboratory, Tissue Culture Laboratory, 40-head capacity Dormitory and a 50-head capacity Training Hall.

MDARRC OIC-Head Dr. Bighani M. Manipula said that the project was a manifestation that "we are serious in putting government funds into its maximum use". "This was a dream come true and hopefully, this can help boost our research, development and extension (RDE) services in this part of the country", Dr. Manipula added. 

Meanwhile, Dr. Adornado congratulated both the DENR XII Regional Director Sultan Datu Tungko M. Saikol and Dr. Manipula for the noble initiative.

During the same occasion, RD Saikol formally turned-over to Director Adornado the staff and personnel including properties and support facilities such as the Regional Clonal Nursery and the 100-hectare Experimental Forest. The turn-over was part of the on-going Rationalization Plan of the DENR. The occasion was witnessed by representatives from the Provincial Government of Cotabato, academe, barangay council, ARD Muripaga T. Umpar and other staff from DENR XII. 

Dir. Adornado planted Diospyros discolor (Kamagong) to seal his first tour of duty in Region XII as the new ERDB Director. (VFFN)
