To come up with action plans for the National Greening Program (NGP) in 2015, the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB) held a planning workshop in Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas from February 9-11, 2015.
In the workshop, the 2014 accomplishments and challenges on the production of quality planting materials (PQPM), an ERDB-led project under the NGP, were assessed.
"As a team, let's take the challenge and together as a family, we will overcome the challenge ahead of us," said Mr. Angelito B. Exconde, Assistant National Coordinator-Executive Officer of PQPM.
The DENR-Department of National Defense (DND) tie-up under the NGP that targets to develop a 3000-hectare bamboo plantation within the Fort Magsaysay Military Reservation (FMMR) in Nueva Ecija from 2013-2016 was also discussed. The workshop also tackled the additional 420 hectares in FMMR to be planted this year with indigenous trees, and the baselining of selected NGP planting sites nationwide.
Towards the end, action plans on quality planting materials, seed sources, clonal nurseries of State Universities and Colleges, mycorrhiza, database development, capacity building, R&D, policy development, administrative support, and DND bamboo project were adopted for implementation in 2015.
