In line with the continuing efforts on the promotion of ENR technologies, the Toxic and Hazardous Wastes Research, Development, and Extension Center (THWRDEC) facilitated a meeting with the Pasay City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) headed by Engr. Reynaldo Costales, Admin officer V on January 27, 2021. The main agenda of the meeting was the presentation of the Floating Garden Phytoremediation Technology (FGPT). THWRDEC-TPPEU Head Evangeline Marcelino discussed and introduced the Research Center and its mandate vis-à-vis the Floating Garden Phytoremediation Technology. Moreover, the features of the FGPT specifically the plant species being used in the establishment of the said floating garden were presented.
Similarly, the process of ENR technology adoption was explained clearly to the attendees of the meeting. Afterward, Ms. Marcelino pointed out that Pasay City was identified as the area for the establishment of the Floating Garden Project for CY 2021. Eventually, the identification and selection of technology adopters for the current year will be decided by the City CENRO. Ultimately, said officials agreed to recommend two barangays in their area of jurisdiction for the said project. Furthermore, different IEC materials regarding recommended Pollutant-Absorbent Plants Species (PAPS), FGPT, and other related info materials were handed over to the CENRO staff. / Jonathan Alexander DJ.
