For. Mayumi Quintos-Natividad gives a short message during her visit to WWRDEC in Baguio City.

 

Despite the bad weather, the WWRRDEC personnel and staff headed by the Center Head, Ms. Helen A.  Maddumba was so blessed and thankful as they warmly welcomed the new Assistant Director of ERDB, For. Mayumi Quintos-Natividad during her three-day (August 29-31, 2019) visit at the Center. The WWRRDEC is the first among the research centers that she visited since she took her oath as Assistant Director of ERDB last July 2019. A short program was held at the WWRRDEC conference room wherein all the staff were given a chance to introduce themselves. She was then introduced to the staff by the center head.

During the short program, For. Natividad addressed the issues and concerns of the center. Among the ten issues and concerns that were presented, she gave priority on the delay of processing of salaries and wages of the job orders. She promised that the processing of vouchers for the salaries of JOs will be three to five days provided that all the attachments are complete. Other issues that she will look into is the processing of vouchers and payments of suppliers. For. Natividad also visited the laboratory facilities at the Forest Tree Seed Center, the soil and water laboratory and even the clonal facilities and tissue laboratory at Pacdal, Baguio City. She was also present during the activities conducted such as the workshop on research proposal preparation which was facilitated by the Forest Ecosystem Research Division of ERDB headed by For. Florita E. Siapno and exit conference done by LESD regarding the status of the laboratory facilities of the Center. She further gave some recommendations for the improvement of the said facilities.

On the third day, she also visited the Philippine Bambusetum along with For. Florita Siapno. They were accompanied by the section chief of TTES, Ms. Minda Odsey.

The WWRRDEC is the first research center that she visited since she took her oath as Assistant Director of ERDB last July 2019. A short program was held at the WWRRDEC conference room where she was introduced by the Center head and where she was briefed on the ongoing WWRRDEC program, project/activities and issues and concerns. All WWRRDEC staff were given the chance to introduce themselves.

During her visit, ERDB- Forest Ecosystem Research Division (FERD) representatives, headed by Ms. Florita Siapno, conducted a workshop on research proposal preparation while Laboratory and Experimental Services Division (LESD) inspected the status of the laboratory facilities of the center and the newly delivered laboratory equipment. The Urban Ecosystem Research Division (UERD), on the other hand, discussed the project pertaining to the prevalence of sink holes in Baguio City.  Recommendations for the improvement of laboratory facilities were given during the exit conference.

On the last day of the visit, AD Natividad together with Ms. Siapno toured the Philippine bambusetum. She was briefed by TTES chief, Ms. Minda Odsey on the various bamboo species in the technology demonstration area. She was shown a total of 38 bamboo species out of the 52 species during her visit.
