The Toxic Substances and Hazardous Wastes Research, Development and Extension Center (THWARDEC) showcased its phytoremediation and other ENR technologies in an exhibit held on March 4-8, 2019 at the 4th floor, South Wing, Main Building at the Philippine Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Manila.

The activity was undertaken to raise awareness and encourage the active participation of stakeholders in the adoption of the technologies being promoted. The exhibit highlights not only the information on phytoremediation scheme for polluted waterways but also other ENR technologies considered as beneficial to urban dwellers i.e. Nursery Establishment, Recycling Techniques, Charcoal Briquetting Technology.

Consequently, a brief program was formally held to open the exhibit. Mr. Joey Pinalas delivered the welcome remarks cum message from the PUP management. In his message, he emphasized the excitement and appreciation of the PUP officials specifically the Office of the Center for Environmental Studies on several ENR activities to be undertaken in the campus. Accordingly, the activities will help inculcate to the students the different environmental values and some measures to cope with the impact of climate change.
